Catch Up in the Rye

Publish Post
I'm four poems behind counting today. Sometimes, when I write something like that last poem it just seems to take everything out of me for a while. I don't know if anyone else has a similar feeling when you reach something you've been artistically grasping for. Anyway, never fear. I have some poems and fragments I've been collecting that I will post today or tomorrow and be all square with my goals. Again, this is mostly to reassure myself and keep myself accountable. Now I have to go self flagellate for a while and have a glass of milk. Or a bite of yak cheese. Which is not awesome. Hence, my face.

  1. Straight up, James. I feel you, bra. (Does that double entendre blow your mind or what?)
Having never achieved any of my own goals, I can only relate what I've heard. But the rumor around town is this: It's like pretty tough or something after doing accomplishing something cool. Partly because it took a significant amount of you out of you to do it, and partly because people received it well. So the result is you're a little spent and you feel like people now have heightened expectations. A troubling mix.
But from one vantage point, maybe the poem that comes just after the great one is really the one most worthy of merit. Because how easy would it be to just rest on your laurels? After all, laurels are supposed to be pretty restful and cushiony, I guess.
In other words, quit moping, you lazy pansy flavored wuss-sicle. Who wants to hear your lame excuses for failure to do what you swore on your life that you would do? Not me.
Uh, I mean, ra ra James. Keep up the good'ns. You smell nice.
