Updates

April is poetry month and in honor of that I'm back writing poetry. I took a break. Three months. I just set it all down, let my verse lie, and wrote other things. I'll be excited to share some new poems soon. It'll be interesting now that the voices of workshop have dulled in my brain. I feel like my own self again. The critiques come from me or from the pseudo voices of my teachers.

In the meantime, while I scratch away, I have some pleasant news to report. No, we're not having a kid. I'm tired of people thinking that when I pause before an announcement. These announcements are about grown-ups! Like me and Valerie. A kid would really get in the way of my narcissism.I"m being published in two journals upcoming. Cold Mountain Review is interested in publishing "Strawberry Canyon Backwards" and The Sow's Ear Poetry Review asked for "Harm" and "Building Parachutes". They also asked for "Strawberry Canyon Backwards" but since I had already promised it, I think they're just planning on publishing the two.
I've never had two journals want something at the same time. That's fun.

Here's something else. My buddy Jon Peter has a new online show that's discussing American Idol and just the music business in general. We've been collaborating, and I'm writing some features for it. There's a finger puppet section called "Idol Hands" and I'm writing a few of his new "Idol Recap in Crappy Pictures". If you go to the website, Americannobody.com -- you can catch my new stuff and his interviews.

Also, Val and I did a 24 Hour film fest. We'll see how it turns out. We haven't seen the finished product. When it is done, I'll post it up. That is, if I'm proud of it. I might just cut up it up and show you some clips that I like.

  1. Nice work Jimmy. I was just thumbing a copy of CMR--a buddy of mine name Brett Strickland got something published there. I'll have to check this Sow's Ear out.

Just trickles of the torrent to come, I'd imagine. Sort of like incontinence.

  8. Joesy,

Not a joke. Happy news. I'm also a big fan of the word shamebag now. That made me giggle. And not in the endearing 7 year old girl way.

    Chelsea,

Good to hear from you. Come down to New York and see us again.

    Darren,

Let's get those taun taun sleeping bags and read poety and watch nerd movies side by side.

    Ah Candice,

I'm so happy for you. For other non related reasons.

I like comments. They make me less dead inside.
