Do You Dare Explore The Murky Fringe?

Here's something I wrote for The Murky Fringe.  Warning Signs Your Kid May Sleep Murder You

I don't know what 'edgy' is.  I don't know what 'the edge' is.  I actually don't believe in it.  I don't believe topics are taboo.  And I don't believe that the things that people write about to get a rise out of other people are ever especially funny.  They're usually just boring.  I can't tell you how many times I've been to some comedy show where some guy is making jokes about having sex with god and I want to yell, "Boo! I've heard someone do that better, you hack."

The edge for me is good writing.  Whatever it is, in whatever form.  The edge is surprising, illuminating, uncomfortable, upside down turning, writing.  Are there new subjects? Plato said there wasn't.  And I believe that guy.  Because he invented platonic love and that stuff makes it cool to for me to hold hands with homeless dudes.

I have a friend that founded this humor website, The Murky Fringe.  You should go there.  Check it out.  It's weird and smart and funny and disturbing and beautiful and the wonderful rantings of three very funny men and a few guest contributors.  One of which is me from time to time.  They are very gracious to let me post my weirdo stuff up there.

The site is not for everyone.  Just like nothing is for everyone.  But I like to see people creating.  Right now. It drives me crazy when people tell me that nothing good is being made anymore. That no current music, movies, writing, art, is as good today as it was a while ago.  These people are just lazy.  They don't take the time to look.  These guys are just as funny and talented as anybody who has ever lived.  Except for Plato.  That dude was killing it.  Republic will make you laugh until you throw up lungs.
